Hello, everyone. I'm Matt Mongrain. As you can tell by the lo-fi menu to the right, I am at once a writer, a musician, and artist, and random. I was born in Windsor, Canada - known in certain circles (*cough* mine *cough*) as the Urinal of the Country - but spent most of my actual growing-up elsewhere, everywhere from northern Ontario to New Brunswick to France. Through a strange and confusing turn of events, I wound up back in my birthplace working at a newspaper. I'm assistant editor there, which pretty much consists of doing everything from writing to photography to working the front desk. Usually writing. Really.

As far as writing, my tastes are varied - I'll write anything from sci-fi to romance to adventure to poetry and songs, whatever I'm in the mood for really. I've completed one novel - The Daily Grind, a contemporary fantasy/adventure - and a series of short stories, all of which you can find more about on the writing page. As music goes, I play the piano, the guitar (acoustic, electric, and bass - which are all the same instrument, so don't believe anyone who tries to tell you otherwise) and was trained in opera singing (I'm a tenor). Thus, I play in a rock band, where I also write half the words and most of the music. If I'm drunk with power I can play the drums and the oboe too. Artwork-wise, I'm not exactly great, but hey, I try - I do a lot of messing with paint and digital art, all of it abstract because I can't draw.

I can speak three languages fluently (English, French, and Spanish) and I'm workable with another two (Japanese and Greek). I write only in English and French, as the other three are third languages.

If for any reason you'd like to find out more about me - you insane, insane creature - feel free to drop me a line. I'd love to hear from you, and since I am a male, I love to talk about myself and I do so at every possible opportunity.

       Cheers, and enjoy,
              -Matt.
